Miguel Olivo Tabbed As Seattle Mariners’ No. 1 Catcher
The Seattle Mariners made a big trade during the offseason in acquiring catcher Jesus Montero from the New York Yankees as well as pitcher Hector Noesi. However, the Mariners will tab catcher Miguel Olivo as their starter to open the season.
The M’s are planning to use Montero as catcher in some games but will give most of the catching roles to Olivo. The Mariners will not throw away the idea of Montero catching this season though.
Montero will see time as DH most of the season and John Jaso is projected to be the backup for Olivo this season.
