The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a three-year contract extension with left-handed pitcher Sean Marshall which will keep him on the team through 2015. The contract is said to be worth $16.5 million and includes performances bonuses.
Since becoming a reliever in 2010, Marshall has posted a 2.45 ERA and averages about 10.1 K/9.
Marshall will be the setup man for new Reds’ closer Ryan Madson and bolster a bullpen that includes Nick Masset, Bill Bray and Jose Arrendondo.
