Philadelphia Phillies Shortstop Jimmy Rollins Thinks Ryan Howard May Not Play This Year
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins isn’t a doctor by any means, but he has his opinions and he’s not afraid to share them. When asked about whether he thinks Ryan Howard will be back soon, Rollins had the following to say about Howard:
“If you ask me, with this infection, I don’t know if he’s going to play this year, because after all the work that he’s done, now he’s got to hit the reset button.”
That can’t be encouraging news for Phillies fans hoping to see their favorite slugger back soon. Howard is entering the first year of a massive $125 million contract extension that will keep him in a Phillies uniform through the 2016 season. The Phillies have kept quiet about Howard’s recent steps to recovery, but it is likely that he will miss at least two months with the injury.
John Mayberry, Jr., Ty Wigginton, and Jim Thome are expected to split the time at first base.
