Dontrelle Willis was released by the Philadelphia Phillies Friday as a preseason roster move. Not even a day removed, Willis is already drawing interest from Major League teams.
The Colorado Rockies are considering signing Willis, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. Willis’ former team the Miami Marlins have reportedly dropped out of any interest in Willis.
The Rockies already have two lefties in their bullpen but at this point in Willis’ career, he is more likely to accept a minor league deal. Willis is far-long removed from his 22-10 2005 season.
He has been regulated to the bullpen in the past few years and has been moving from team to team. His last three teams include the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks.
