The Miami Marlins are looking to acquire a pitcher to give themselves a deeper rotation that already includes Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Anibal Sanchez, Ricky Nolasco and Carlos Zambrano, which may be one of the scariest rotations the Marlins have ever put together on paper.
Further north, the New York Yankees also have a great deal of pitching depth and with the recent return of Andy Pettitte, they are looking to trade away a pitcher namely Freddy Garcia. According to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com, the Yankees offered Garcia to the Marlins but the fish did not bite on any offers.
Knobler reported that the Yankees were trying to dive into the Marlins bullpen but Miami is not willing to give up anyone that is slated to be in there.
The projected Marlins bullpen already includes right-handed pitchers Ed Mujica, Steven Cishek, Ryan Webb and Heath Bell. The left-handed pitchers include Wade LeBlanc, Randy Choate and Mike Dunn. Also, do not forget about last year’s closer Juan Carlos Oviedo, who is currently on the restricted list after running into trouble with the law about his fake name, Leo Nunez. It is unknown when he will return.
In any ever, the Marlins are basically set for their pitching and will not be looking to trade anyone at this moment of time, especially with one week of Spring Training left.
