The St. Louis Cardinals apparently don’t need Albert Pujols. They decided to go off as if he were still around, launching 4 homers in the 2nd and 3rd innings, chasing Yovani Gallardo after 3 and 2/3′s innings. Gallardo didn’t look sharp at all, and gave up 6 runs in those 3 and two-thrids on 7 hits.
This has to be extremely satisfying for the St. Louis Cardinals fan base. Losing Pujols had to have stung quite a bit, but it looks like it didn’t matter as Matt Holliday, Yadier Molina, Carlos Beltran, and David Freese all went 4 mamba dancing.
Just for the record, I have the Cardinals repeating and winning the division over the Brewers this year, so I’m more than okay with their offense getting off to a hot start. I really think the pitching is going to be just fine, and still have two sick prospects in the minors ready to pitch. If the offense can continue to hit at a high level, the Cardinals are going to be just as dangerous- if not more dangerous than last year when they won the world series.
I assume they’re going to hang on and beat the Milwaukee Brewers- improving to 2-0 on the year.
