If you were in attendance at Thursday’s Baltimore Orioles – Chicago White Sox game, you were in for a snoozer. Well, until the seventh inning rolled around. With the O’s up 5-2, a little kid ran onto the field before being rescued by Sox left fielder Dayan Viciedo. Viciedo scooped the kid up and handed him off to security to deal with.
I understand drunk people running onto the field, but I have never seen a little kid. This lil guy has to be in kindergarten. I’ve seen estimates from three to five years old. He probably does not know the issues that come with running on the field.
I’ve seen some humorous response on Twitter asking how drunk the kid was. Well, to be at an early season game like this, you would probably have to be. Either that or he wanted 15 minutes of fame. Finally, his parents might just be awful people who told him to do that.
Luckily, the cops held off and did not tackle and or taze him. That can happen in Chicago. You do not want to run on the wrong side of the cops. Good things do not happen when you anger police.
This kid will be on all the sports shows tonight. It will probably be the only highlight of the game, barring a Sox comeback. It is certainly more interesting than watching these two teams play baseball and I say that as a White Sox fan. With some luck, he will probably be a prospect in the Sox system in 15 years or so.
Thanks to CSN Chicago for the video.
