A.J. Burnett to Make Pittsburgh Pirates Debut Tonight

The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated right-handed pitcher A.J. Burnett from the disabled list and are expected to start him tonight.

Kevin Correia was originally scheduled to start tonight’s game while Burnett was to make his final rehab appearance for AA-Altoona, but Correia is “experiencing discomfort in his left side” and will be skipped, according to Pirates Prospects.

The Pirates acquired Burnett from the New York Yankees in February, but he broke the orbital bone under his right eye during a bunting competition in training camp.

Tonight’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals will mark his Pittsburgh Pirates debut.
