Guillermo Mota is going to get a little bit of vacation time. Unfortunately, the San Francisco Giants reliever is not going to enjoy his vacation time. Mota just got slapped with a 100 game suspension for testing positive for Clenbuterol, which happens to be a PED. This is the second time Mota has been suspended.
The 38 year old reliever has been a cog in the Giants bullpen for the last three seasons. He has been struggling this season, which might explain why there is a positive PED test. Mota must have been trying to get any advantage he could. This could have been his last season, so he was probably trying to find any way to stick around for a little bit.
I just do not understand how players can keep violating the policy. I mean, you know what is spelled out in it. In Mota’s case, you can not violate the stupid thing twice. It does not take a lot of brains to figure out that using PEDs is a big no no.
Guillermo Mota will be back by the end of the season, but who knows if the Giants will even need him by then? This gives a young reliver a chance to pick up some extra innings and impress the team. It could be that guy’s big break while it ends up being Mota’s last gasp. I can’t feel bad for him, because he knows the rules.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I bet that is what the Giants are thinking. Stay tuned to Rant Sports for more information about this topic.
