Chipper Jones Banged Up; Expected to Miss Games for the Atlanta Braves
The series between the Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays was one that Chipper Jones looked forward too this year. He grew up in Deland, FL. He had a number of friends scheduled to come to see him play on Saturday. The possibility of him playing in Saturday’s game is not likely, after he took a hard hit ball off his calf in the 3rd inning. He was removed from the game in the 8th inning. The initial prognosis is that he has a serious contusion. There is a good chance he will miss the remainder of the series against the Rays.
Chipper shared the following thoughts on playing in Tampa after the game:
“It’s pretty safe to say my career in Tampa is over.”
The Braves have been very cautious this season with Chipper. They don’t want to risk an injury for their inspired leader. They have done a great job keeping him healthy. Hopefully, he will be ready to return sooner than he initially thought.
