Chicago Cubs Select Albert Almora With 6th Overall Pick

The Chicago Cubs continue to fumble. With Mark Appel falling in the draft, the Cubs had an opportunity to select the big right hander- one of which I projected as a top of the rotation kid. Nope, go figure. The Cubs select Albert Almora with the 6th pick.

I’m stunned. I’ve had the Cubs going pitching for a long time, and with the team having several athletic outfielders in the system, didn’t think they would go in that direction.

I’m absolutely disappointed right now. Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer came in to fix the organization and they take a high school OF that frankly- wasn’t the best player on the board? Give me a break.

This is a broken record with the Cubs, and they continue to make insane decisions. Is this organization ever going to turn around?

Look- Almora might be a nice player, but he doesn’t have the star power a guy like Mark Appel brings. He’s got “incredible make up” but that doesn’t translate to wins all the time.

Almora has a TON to work on, and we’ll forget about him for 3-4 years.

Insane, and yes- I’m absolutely bitter.
