Houston Astros Select Carlos Correa With First Overall Pick

In a shocking development, the Houston Astros have selected high school SS Carlos Correa with the first overall pick in the 2012 MLB draft.

This shocks the world as everyone projected OF Byron Buxton or RHP Mark Appel to go number 1. Apparently the Astros disagreed with that and went with the guy they believe will be the best player at the big league level.

Carlos Correa has been compared to Alex Rodriguez defensively, with offensive tools comparable. He’s got a good body at 6’4 190 lbs, and his make up is apparently off the charts.

It’s clear the Astros think they’ll be a good 5 years away from contending for anything, and are really going to push for the future.

Awesome surprise at number 1 and exactly why the MLB draft is awesome, although I’m a little upset the Cubs didn’t get him at 6.
