Jonathan Broxton Is An Attractive Trade Piece
The Kansas City Royals are on the right track, but aren’t ready to compete seriously in the AL, and won’t be for a few more seasons. Jonathan Broxton was signed to a 1 year deal for 4 million in the offseason and has been very good in the closer role after Joakim Soria was lost for the year.
With that being said, Jonathan Broxton will bring back a few prospects at the deadline, as there’s going to be a team in major need of a late inning power arm.
Jonathan Broxton is that kind of pitcher, and even with his injuries- has still turned in a pretty good season.
The Royals should do all they can to trade every attractive “money” player this year and continue building for the future. It’s going to take some time, but moves like trading Broxton are incredibly smart.
I could see someone like the New York Yankees making a strong move for Broxton at the deadline as they’re going to be a team that’s going to need some help in the bullpen. Broxton would fit in quite well, and give Joe Girardi some options.
No matter where Broxton ends up, it’s going to be for the best- of both clubs and Broxton himself.
