The Pittsburgh Pirates continue to impress me in the draft. With RHP Mark Appel falling, the Pirates decided to screw plans and get the best player available. Alot of people (including myself) had Mark Appel as the best pitcher in the draft, and I’m still stunned he fell as far as he did.
The Pirates are continuing their plan of adding impact players. They’re building one heck of a farm system rotation, and I think these picks are going to start paying off over the next 2 years.
Mark Appel has 3 plus pitches, and a developing 4th. He’s going to need some time to develop, but I think he’s going to be a real good 3rd pitcher in that rotation.
Good job by the Pirates, and I look forward to him killing the Chicago Cubs every start, as I wanted the Cubs to take Appel more than anything in my entire life.
