Jorge Soler is just the latest item in theChicago Cubs rebuilding phrase.  The Cuban outfielding phenom is now a member of the Cubs after they won the bidding for him.  The price is steep, as it cost the Cubs nearly 30 million dollars to secure his services.

I am not big into projecting the futures of players, but I think Jorge Soler can be a star.  If everything breaks right for him, he will be a perennial All-Star as a right fielder.  He can hit for power, he can run, he can basically do it all.  The Cubs need pieces right now and Soler is a big piece.

Jorge Soler will probably start in Single A ball, but the Cubs hope he can move through the system quickly.  If all things go right, Soler will be up in the majors in two to three years.  The deal is for nine years, so Soler is going to be a Cub for a long time.  That could be a big thing in the future.

Jorge Soler can bring the Cubs a World Series if he meets his potential.  There is always a chance that he doesn’t meet his potential and he falls flat on his face.  That is the life of evaluating prospects.  Can’t miss prospects often miss.  Diamonds in the rough often become stars.  That is the beauty of baseball.  However, Soler looks to be that can’t miss prospect that will make it.  Cubs fans certainly hope so.
