The Detroit Tigers are absolutely in the need for some starting pitching, and have a ways to go to catch the surprising Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. With that being said, look no further than the Arizona Diamondbacks who NEED to trade Joe Saunders to get Trevor Bauer up to the big leagues.
No, Joe Saunders isn’t a major difference maker, but the Tigers need all the help they can get, and they can probably get him insanely cheap. With all the rumors surrounding Matt Garza, Joe Saunders would mean they add more pitching and don’t have to trade their crowned jewels at the top of the farm system to get it.
I know a lot of people are going to be like uhhhhh. Joe Saunders? C’mon man! Before that happens, all I have to say is YOU come on! You can NEVER have enough starting pitching and Saunders has been decent so far this year. He’s got experience pitching in the AL and that’s the most important factor here. If the Tigers want to win, they need to upgrade period. I think Saunders is a slight upgrade with the potential to be a little more than that, and they keep Jacob Turner in play. That’s all that matters right now.
Sometimes the best trades are the smaller ones, keep that in mind.
