MLB Rumors: Detroit Tigers Interested In Trading For Outfielder Carlos Quentin
We are about halfway through June, so that means a lot of MLB rumors are going to start popping up. The Detroit Tigers are one of the biggest disappointments in baseball. Many thought they would run away with the AL Central, but they are struggling to even get to .500. They apparently think that they need more offense and they have looked at San Diego Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin.
I am not exactly sure why the Tigers think Quentin is going to put them over the top. Offense is not the problem with the team. They need pitching by the bucketload. Unless they think that CQ can make the conversion to the mound, I am not sure how this move will benefit them in the long run. It does not matter how many runs you can score if you can not keep the other team off the board.
The Tigers are still in the race for the Central, since no team in that division is lighting the world on fire. A good hot streak could easily bring them back to the division lead. I just do not see how Carlos Quentin would do that. He is injury prone, even though he is hitting the ball like no other right now.
This is certainly going to be an interesting buildup to the trade deadline. With a lot of teams still in contention, the MLB rumors are going to be flowing hot and heavy for the next six weeks.
