The New York Yankees after winning ten straight games actually lost a couple in a row. The New York Yankees lost two in a row to the Atlanta Braves after winning the first game against them on Monday. The Yankees lost on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon and lost the series two out of three. The scores of the games were 6-2, 4-3 and 10-5. Here is a look at the three games and why did the Yankees lose two out of three? I will also take a brief look ahead for the Yankees.
The Yankees won the first game by the score of 6-2 which was their tenth win in a row. CC Sabathia pitched a complete game and after struggling early he really settled down. Derek Jeter led the Yankees with two hits and three RBI. The second game of the series which was won 4-3 by the Braves was a good game. The Yankees had two runners thrown out at home which turned out to be huge. Hiroki Kuroda wasn’t great for the Yankees but he did keep them in the game. Nick Swisher led the Yankees with a couple of hits and RBI. The Yankees were only 2-11 with runners in scoring position in this game. The final game of the series was a back and forth game that featured nine homeruns. The ball was flying out of Yankee Stadium. Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and was not good at all, the Yankees battled back but it got away from them late again. The Yankee homeruns came from Eric Chavez, Alex Rodriguez, Jeter and Robinson Cano.
The Yankees after a day off today will play part two of the Subway Series on Friday night. It will be a three game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field. The Yankees will send Andy Pettitte, Ivan Nova and CC Sabathia to the mound in the three games, they will all be night games. The Yankees swept the Mets a couple of weeks ago at Yankee Stadium and will try to continue their dominance of the National League.
