Anthony Rizzo Brings Ray Of Hope To Wrigley
The Chicago Cubs have finally decided to bring Anthony Rizzo up from AAA Iowa after his ridiculous start to the 2012 campaign. Clearly, the Cubs waited to get the extra year on his arbitration clock, and since there was no need to win this year- the Cubs played their cards correct. With that being said, the Cubs are stuck in a dreadful campaign, with not a ton to look forward too.
Well, I believe the Cubs are headed in the right direction. Only true baseball fans can understand the path of the organization, and it’s the right one. What Anthony Rizzo means to the Cubs is a ray of light at the end of a dark tunnel. He’s going to hit in the middle of the order for a long time, and that’s what the Cubs need. Anthony Rizzo should enjoy this year because all he has to do is go out and play, work hard, and do things the right way. Not so hard right?
With Rizzo coming up, it’s likely Brett Jackson isn’t far away either. I can’t wait to see some of these kids play. With Javier Baez in single A, the future is bright to build around Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo. With the trade deadline looming, the Cubs are going to add some more prospects and build up a system that was once dead.
In good time, the Cubs will contend again, and that day is coming soon. I know patience is a virtue, and understand the history of the franchise, but this will take 2-3 years.
However, that plan starts today- with Anthony Rizzo.
