Mets Hope Gee Turns to W
After losing to the Chicago Cubs 6-1 on Monday night, The Mets are looking to end their three game game skid when Dillon Gee takes the bump at Wrigley Field Tuesday night. Gee is 5-5 this year with 4.27 ERA but is coming off of one of his better outings of the year. In his last start Gee went 7 1/3 innings striking out nine Orioles, giving up two runs on three hits. His nine strikeouts tied his career high he set earlier in the season against San Diego.
For a team looking to make a statement and prides itself on solid pitching, it is crucial for the Gee to get the job done tonight in Chi-town against a weak hitting Chicago Cubs team and do what the Mets need to do; Beat the teams they’re supposed to beat.
Although the past 22 games was a litmus test for Terry Collins’ squad, this road trip is also crucial for this team as they play one team that they’re significantly better than, and one of the best teams in the National League.
Along with Gee on the mound, the Cubs will start Randy Wells (1-2 4.91 ERA) and it is necessary to get the offense going early and should put the game in cruise control for Gee.
Although the Mets are better than the Cubs, winning this series would be beneficial for the Mets to get the ball rolling and go swinging into Los Angeles to face the Dodgers
