The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City with FOX televising the game.
Baseball’s All-Star Game has been more fun to watch in recent years due to the change in which the winning league will get home field advantage in the World Series. The National League is the reigning champions courtesy of Prince Fielder’s three-run homer off C.J. Wilson in the bottom of the fourth inning in last year’s All-Star Game.
Matt Cain will be the starting pitcher for the National League while Justin Verlander will take the mound for the American League.
Here is the National League lineup:
DH Carlos Gonzalez
CF Melky Cabrera
LF Ryan Braun
1B Joey Votto
RF Carlos Beltran
C Buster Posey
3B Pablo Sandoval
2B Dan Uggla
SS Rafael Furcal
Here is the American League lineup:
SS Derek Jeter
2B Robinson Cano
LF Josh Hamilton
RF Jose Bautista
1B Prince Fielder
3B Adrian Beltre
DH David Ortiz
C Mike Napoli
CF Curtis Granderson
As you can see, Ryan Braun is starting in place of the injured Matt Kemp. Braun will be batting in his natural third spot in the order with Joey Votto providing him some excellent protection.
Everyone keeps talking about how the AL has plenty of pop in their lineup but the NL has potential to be just as potent in my opinion. Either way the pitchers must be a little nervous considering most of these players can go yard at any given moment.
Personally, I would be more afraid to face the AL starting lineup than the NL. The two through four guys, especially with Josh Hamilton in the mix, could do some real damage. In fact, they could win the game before the reserves start coming in. Either way, it should definitely be entertaining to watch as the world’s greatest player’s face-off against each other.
I predict the AL to make up for last season and defeat the NL 6-5.
