If we thought MLB Rumors were heating up, how about now? The Los Angeles Dodgers have been rumored to step up their efforts in trading for Chicago Cubs RHP Matt Garza, not Ryan Dempster. Matt Garza was then taken out of the game due to “injury” even though he was throwing 97.
With Garza being taken out, everyone has been going nuts on twitter over what’s happening. I don’t know if something has already been agreed too, but it’s very likely something is very close and the Dodgers (or another team) has asked the Cubs to take Garza out to make sure he doesn’t further ‘hurt” himself.
If the Dodgers are about to land Garza, Zach Lee is coming back in this deal. The Cubs wouldn’t trade Garza unless they were overwhelmed which means they have no choice but to give up Lee. I’m not sure that’s going to be a good deal for the Dodgers, but they definitely do need another pitcher. If they can’t get Cole Hamels or Zack Greinke, Garza is arguably the next best choice.
We’ll continue to update you on the developing story.
