Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Starling Marte Hits Home Run Off First Pitch Of His Major League Career
Starling Marte is the uber prospect for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates are in need of offense so they called up Marte to help them out. In his very first at bat, he proved how ready he was. On the very first pitch he saw, Marte went deep for a home run.
Marte is just the 28th player in the history of league to homer on the first pitch that he saw. He has tremendous power and could be a star for years to come. The guy went 2 for 4 in his first major league game, which is not too bad.
The Pirates are still in contention late in the season and they are primed to make a run to the playoffs. They will need Starling Marte to step up whenever he is asked to. He might just be the offensive spark that the Pirates need. If they can improve their offense, they certainly have the pitching to at least make the playoffs.
This was a great moment for Marte and a great moment for baseball. This has been the year of the young player making his mark. In every league, there have been a couple guys who seem too young to be dominating, yet they are going nuts on a daily basis. Marte is just the latest one to leave his mark on the game.
Something tells me that Marte is going to be a household name for a long time. If you homer on the first pitch of your career, you might be a special player.
