Giants Acquire Marco Scutaro From Rockies

By Parker Perry

The San Francisco Giants announced Friday evening that they acquired infielder Marco Scutaro and cash for minor league prospect Charlie Culberson.

Culberson was batting .236 this season for the AAA Fresno Grizzlies.

Scutaro was batting .271 at the major league level.

Scutaro will help solidify the middle infield for the Giants. It will also give them a solid bat for a lineup that has had its struggles so far this season. He is not the answer, or anyone that will push the offense to one of the leagues bat, but he is someone that came on the cheap and is a good pick up.

When he learned of his trade after the Rockies loss against the Cincinnati Reds, he talked to reporters of the Denver Post.

“I understand it’s a business. Now I have an opportunity for a team that has chance to make the playoffs.”

Culberson was one of the higher prospects in the system, but was not top 20. He was often listed in the honorable mention column in Giant prospects list.
