With the trade deadline in the rear view mirror, the Miami Marlins are desperately looking to sell everyone off of their steadily sinking ship. The Marlins have already unloaded Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Omar Infante and Randy Choate in the past week and are looking to give away more players. Josh Johnson has been reportedly named as another candidate to be trade but there are more along with him that could be next to go.
The Marlins are trying to trade away Carlos Zambrano, who they acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the offseason, and Carlos Lee, who the team acquired during the year from the Houston Astros. The Marlins are also looking to find potential suitors for Ricky Nolasco. It is a pretty sad feeling for the Marlins especially after the promise that they had coming into the season.
The Marlins are dangling Nolasco and Lee in front of teams to try and draw a bite but no one has tried to make a swap for either player just yet. There are two teams interested in Zambrano but neither of those teams have made themselves known.
If either Nolasco or Zambrano do get dealt, expect Jacob Turner, who was acquired in the Sanchez-Infante shipment to the Detroit Tigers, to be called up into the rotation. In three games with the Tigers this year, Turner allowed 11 earned runs.
With the Marlins ship sinking at an abnormal rate, the front office is sure going to make this trading deadline something to watch.
