Texas Rangers Call Up Super Prospect Mike Olt

By Riley Schmitt

Mike Olt was going to be a big part of any package that the Texas Rangers would create in order to get a front of the line starter.  None of those deals came to fruition and it looks like Mike Olt is going to make his major league debut sooner rather than later.  Late Wednesday, the Rangers purchased the contract of the super prospect.

Other teams have seen great effects from calling up their best prospect this year and the Rangers are hoping that Mike Olt gives them a similar boost.  They are stuck in a dogfight out in the AL West and they need all the help that they can get.  The offense has been slumping for the last couple of weeks, but it is starting to show signs of life.  Olt might just be the extra boost to get it all rolling again.

It is always fun to watch guys come up to the major leagues and try to prove that they are worthy of all the hype that they are getting.  Some players crack under the pressure and never make it.  However, I think Mike Olt is going to be a successful player for a long time.  If he can live up to what the other rookies have done this year, he will be a great one.

The Rangers have finally made their move to help bolster the offense.  Now it is time to see if the move works out for them as the season begins to wind down.
