Thursday afternoon was not be a great day for the Los Angeles Dodgers. It looks like that MVP-hopeful outfielder Matt Kemp could be suspended after making contact with an ump after being ejected for arguing balls and strikes. There is a good chance that he could be out a few games after that.
Kemp finished the day 0-for-1.
Manager Don Mattingly also got sent to the showers early.
All of this coming in the 10-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. A.J. Burnett picked up the win for the Pirates to move to an incredible 15-4 on the season after having an awful run with the New York Yankees and starting the season by taking a bunted ball to the face in Spring Training.
Although Burnett was good, he allowed to home runs to James Loney and Hanley Ramirez of the Dodgers. He finsihed with seven strikeouts with one walk. He allowed six earned runs on seven hits in six and two-thirds innings. Luckily for the Pirates, the bullpen kept it together.
The Dodgers are still sitting pretty on top of the National League West division in a tight race with their rivals the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers are a half-game up and are heading into a series against the Atlanta Braves on the road.
In the series, the Dodgers will use Chris Capuano (11-8, 3.11 ERA), Aaron Harang (8-7, 3.76 ERA) and Chad Billingsley (9-9, 3.62 ERA). This is a pivotal series for both teams. The Braves are in a tight face for a wildcard spot in the National League as well. Every game will have playoff implications.
