Houston Astros Generate An Unbelievable Rating for Sunday's Game

The Houston Astros are terrible, folks. Historically terrible.

Given this fact, it’s little surprise that whatever fan base the “Disastros” as they’re not-so-lovingly called in the Lone Star State remained has already tuned out for the rest of the season.

Literally.

According to buzz on the Internet today, the Astros tallied a .05 rating for their Sunday tilt with the Cincinnati Reds— which ironically enough, ended in a victory. Yes, .05. In terms of the math, that .05 rating means the game was viewed by an average of 1,096 households in the greater Houston viewing area.

The viewership was so bad, in fact, that it only left a footprint of what the networks called “measurable viewership” in four, 1/4 hour periods. Really, I’m not kidding.

On top of that, it was not viewed at all by .18 percent of the Houston Metro area’s 2.1 million television-owning households. To put it bluntly, and simply, people are staying away from Astros broadcasts in droves.

I just can’t imagine why when the primary draw is Jose Altuve. It just boggles the mind.

This type of desperate situation equates to a loss in revenue which will require some type of drastic action to recover from. That drastic action you ask?

You got it– mark my words– Roger Clemens will be in a Houston Astros uniform sometime this month before the last pitch is thrown and the last at bat is taken. The Astros have no choice but to call-up the Rocket, not only for the publicity stunt cache, but to get some butts in seats and eyeballs on the televisions to make sure that the business doesn’t suffer as much as the product itself has as we wrap up the 2012 season.

Disastros.

It’s fitting.
