Contrary to popular belief, hype, and preseason expectations, the Miami Marlins stink. A record payroll of $101 million dollars hasn’t produced results for Miami as they sit in the basement of the National League East with a record of 63-79. With the signings of Jose Reyes, Mark Buerhle, and Heath Bell, the Marlins were supposed to compete not only for the division, but for a pennant as well. With the team failing to meet the sky-high expectations, will there be any MLB rumors circulating around Ozzie Guillen’s impending doom?
Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria talked about his squad to the media recently and dropped this quote about Guillen:
“I just don’t want to get drawn into that until the end of the season. There’s good and bad with every situation.”
Translation: I am not happy at all with Ozzie and will considering firing him, even if he is under contract for 2013 and beyond.
To say I’m not surprised about the Marlins mishaps this season would be an understatement. After all, I had to endure the idiot that was Ozzie Guillen for seven years when he managed the Chicago White Sox. I really do not think there is a worse manager in the history of sports than this clown.
Not only is he a horrible in-game manager, but his abrasive style is so draining on all of his players. A lot of analysts and former players say they love Guillen’s style because he holds players accountable. Well, that’s easy to say when you’re no longer playing and sitting in a nice cozy studio.
If the Marlins want to have any success in the present and future, they better jump ship on Guillen before it’s too late.
