Josh Hamilton has basically been telling us (without telling us) that he’s done with the Texas Rangers. Well, it looks like that feeling is mutual as a source inside the Texas Rangers has said that the Rangers wouldn’t bring Hamilton back- even if it were for free. This is certainly going to spike all MLB Rumors talks about Hamilton and I can’t wait to see what kind of talk will spike of this.
Hamilton has had a very solid career in Texas. He won an MVP, and turned himself into a very solid defensive outfielder in the process. The knock on Hamilton is going to be that he disappears during “crunch time” and can’t lead a team to a title. I 100% disagree with all of that. The guy puts up video game numbers and is one of the best pure hitters in the game. Has he slumped when it’s a bad time to slump? Sure. Who hasn’t? Look- baseball is all about streaks- good and bad. The fact of the matter is, Hamilton contributes to more wins and helps his team get in the postseason. He anchors the middle of an offense and when he stays healthy- he’s a hall of fame kind of talent.
We all know about his past and it’s something he’ll never be able to run from. We all have seen some of his injuries, and that’s going to hurt him when it comes to years this winter. He’s going to make a boatload of money because there’s a team out there that sees everything I see in the guy. Josh Hamilton is an offense changing force and whoever signs him (hopefully the Chicago Cubs) Will immediately be a force.
