Game three of the American League Division Series (ALDS) takes place Wednesday night at 7:37pm ET in the Bronx.
The Baltimore Orioles are pitching Miguel Gonzalez, while the New York Yankees are sending Hiroki Kuroda to the mound. Game three should be no different than the first two games. Yes, it will be taking place at Yankees Stadium, but don’t let that distract you from what really matters. Pitching.
If the Orioles are going to win this game it will be behind Gonzalez. You know Kuroda is going to be tough to get runs off of. Kuroda was 16-11 with a 3.32 ERA this season. The Orioles will have to manufacture runs. Gonzalez will have to give the Orioles another pitching performance like August 31st at Yankee Stadium.
Gonzalez pitched seven shutout innings in what was a big game for the Orioles and their season. Well, this is an even bigger game.
Orioles fans should have confidence in Gonzalez, who has been fantastic this season going 9-4 with a 3.25 ERA in 18 games (15 starts). Gonzalez finished the season even stronger. In his last four starts, he went at least six innings while allowing no more than two runs in any of those starts.
Just because the series has gone to Yankee Stadium doesn’t mean the Orioles chances have dwindled. If the Orioles can get strong starting pitching they still have a great chance. The Orioles have won two out of three at Yankees Stadium before, there is no reason why they can’t do it over the next three games. “Buckle Up” Orioles fans!
