Giancarlo Stanton Should Request Trade

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The Miami Marlins did something unthinkable Tuesday. The organization traded any person that mattered, including Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays for a slew of young guys and prospects. An outrageous salary dump especially after Reyes and Buehrle were only there for one season.

Surprisingly, the Marlins did not trade every famous face on the team. It left franchise outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the team and out there all alone. There is not doubt that Stanton is angry as any person in his position would be too. Stanton took to Twitter and tweeted that he was “pissed off.”

Stanton’s tweet was retweeted 5,000 times by a horde of angry Marlins fans in less than 15 minutes.

At this point, there is no hope for this organization. New Marlins manager Mike Redmond will have an uphill climb trying to manage this team in his first season and Jeffrey Loria and Larry Beinfest have gave Redmond no major all-stars to work with to even give himself a chance. It is time for Stanton to request a trade and to get out of the three ring circus while he can.

If the phones are not ringing for his services already, they should be. Stanton only has a $480K salary so money would not be an issue. The Marlins could get a ton of prospects for him something that the team has already gotten with this disaster of a deal.

Stanton should feel unwanted and should feel betrayed by the organization that he has been in for so long. How long will it be before the Marlins sell him off? Stanton should request a trade before the Marlins get to it first.
