The Chicago Cubs need pitching. They need YOUNG pitching in the worst way possible. Our sources at the Winter Meetings tell us that the Chicago Cubs could be talking to the Arizona Diamondbacks regarding Trevor Bauer, who happens to be one of their best pitching prospects. ESPN has confirmed that the Diamondbacks didn’t like some of the things Bauer did last year and is certainly available.

This would be a great buy for the Cubs if they can get this done. Personally, I think trading Brett Jackson to the Diamondbacks for Bauer straight up could serve both teams quite well. Both guys didn’t live up to their expectations at the big league level, so it could definitely make sense.

As a Cubs fan, I was pretty disgusted by Jackson’s plate approach. He didn’t seem to go up there with any sort of plan and just hacked away. That won’t cut it at the big league level and they should certainly make him available to other teams before teams give up on his talent. Trevor Bauer would immediately give the Cubs a young arm they drastically need.

We’ll see what happens as the Winter Meetings proceed as well as updating you on this potential story over the next few days.
