The San Francisco Giants are reportedly kicking the tires on free agent CF Shane Victorino. Victorino was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers last year and was a part of their late season run that fell short. The defending champs have holes like any other team, and general manager Brian Sabean will be looking to get better despite the Giants winning two of the last three World Series.
Victorino is hard for me to predict because I know what I would and would NOT pay him. He’s a guy that relies quite a bit on his legs, is getting older, and doesn’t have the pop a lot of other guys have. I think he could serve as a spark plug for a few years, but I have a feeling someone will give him a year year $60 million deal.
The San Francisco Giants are supposedly interested in Shane for roughly three years, but I don’t think that will get the job done. Victorino would be a decent fit in with the defending champs as long as the Giants don’t go too crazy with salary.
