Winter Meetings 2012: Los Angeles Dodgers Are a “Clear Favorite” for Zack Greinke

Gary A. Vasquez – USA TODAY Sports

With the Washington Nationals signing Dan Haren to a one-year deal, the market for Zack Greinke is slowly shrinking. It appears, according to the ever so important “source”, that the market is down to only one team – - the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It’s nice to see Jon Morosi took the time out of his day to not talk about the Detroit Tigers and make Dodgers fans extremely giddy about the potential of a Greinke deal. Thanks to their insane $3 billion TV deal, the Dodgers seemingly have an endless supply of money. Every time I say to myself “there’s no way they can afford this”, they are rumored to make a big move. This Greinke news is no different.

I have a feeling Josh Hamilton is just using other teams as leverage before he re-signs with the Texas Rangers, so that eliminates another team that is in on Greinke, leaving the two LA  teams. Could Greinke re-sign with the Los Angeles Angels? Sure, he could. But given the fact I’ve heard absolutely nothing positive about a potential deal, I’m pretty weary about it.

For all those reasons, I believe that “source” is spot-on. And if that “source” is spot-on, the Dodgers will have one of the dirtiest, nastiest, and scariest rotation come 2013. When Zack Greinke is your no. 2 and Josh Beckett is your potential no. 4, you are going to win some ballgames.

Needless to say, it’s good to be a Dodgers fan right now.
