The off-season in Major League Baseball never slows down and with that, rumors will fly all the way up to Opening Day. There is one team that could use a boost in their lineup and that is the Baltimore Orioles as Baltimore tries to improve on last year’s playoff appearance. I wonder if the Orioles would be interested in trying to make a trade for the Colorado Rockies’ Troy Tulowitzki to try to add another thumper to the Baltimore lineup.
The Orioles have J.J. Hardy at shortstop, who has been quite successful the past two seasons but could be moved to either second or third base with the possible addition of Tulowitzki. The Rockies have said that they have no interest in moving Tulowitzki, who is signed through 2020. The question to me though would be could Colorado consider this move if players like Manny Machado and Dylan Bundy were involved in the deal? I think that may stir some things up for the Rockies’ front office.
This trade isn’t on the front burner right now, but I would keep my eyes peeled in the coming months to see if this could gain some traction. Colorado seems to want to get even younger than they are right now and Baltimore could use another offensive piece in the American League East. It would take a lot to get Tulowitzki out of Colorado but with the right mix of prospects, it is possible that the Rockies consider the idea. The National League West is going to be tough the next several years and any young players could help Colorado rebuild.
