I personally don’t like the idea of Hamilton anywhere but the Texas Rangers just because he has an amazing support system down there and there is far less temptation to slip up on his sobriety down there. In addition, In larger markets such as New York, Los Angeles, even Chicago there are many more media outlets to tear him apart when he has a bad game or even a bad at bat.
That being said I think he’d succeed elsewhere, however with all the support systems he has in place in Arlington is amazing, and he wouldn’t have to transport them to another city on a permanent basis or start building up a new one in a new town.
For example Hamilton has an addiction accountability partner that goes with him seemingly everywhere as he continues to battle his well documented past with alcohol and drug abuse. In this case, it is his own father-in-law. They are also called a sober companion and they are trusted with your strengths, weaknesses, worries, and the details of your personal relationships so they can identify potential triggers and aid you in staying strong when you are in dangerous situations.
All and all, I wish Josh Hamilton continued success on the diamond and off the field and off it beating the demons that have hurt this man in the past, but this is just my take, what do you all think of the possibility of him going to the city of angels?
