MLB Rumors: Could Rafael Soriano End Up With Los Angeles Dodgers?

There are several closers still left in free agency before Major League Baseball gets back into full swing in just under two months. There is one pitcher who got to close a lot last season that should be looking for a long-term deal in Rafael Soriano. Soriano took over for Mariano Rivera last season with the New York Yankees and pitched well enough to garner a huge contract now.

Soriano has shown before that he can close games during his days with the Tampa Bay Rays and with the Atlanta Braves. There are several teams that need a pitcher the quality of Soriano but who will want to sign him? I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the Los Angeles Dodgers decide to make their presence known yet again. The Dodgers were using a combination of Kenley Jensen and Javy Guerra last season and would love to get a closer with experience to go with all their other off-season pickups.

MLB is really turning into a group of stacked teams the way it keeps going with teams like the Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels that keep driving salaries up and continue to sign the biggest free agents. The Dodgers could make Soriano the next big free agent pickup to make their team even more powerful than they already are. The only other team that seems like they could make a run at Soriano would be the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers are in need of a closer after letting Jose Valverde go. This could be yet another Los Angeles power play though which may lead fans even closer to an all-Los Angeles World Series next October.
