Craig Biggio May Be Lone 2013 Hall Of Fame Inductee
On Wednesday, the 2013 Major League Baseball Hall Of Fame Class will be announced and with all the steroid-connected players that are this year’s ballot, it may be tough for any player to get the necessary 75% to be elected. If there is one player that I think should make it, it is Craig Biggio. Biggio finished with over 3,000 hits and has never had a word said about him and steroids.
Biggio was a player that was with the Houston Astros his whole career, moving all around the diamond before ending his career at second base. Biggio was a great leadoff hitter no matter if he was catching or playing center field or at second base. There is no doubt in my mind that Biggio deserves to make it over any of the steroid players right now. It is possible that a few of them get into the Hall in due time but this is not the year for it. This should be a year where players with no questions asked about them get their day. That includes Biggio, who could end up being the lone selection in 2013.
There aren’t a ton of great candidates out there this year without some doubts in their first year so it could come down to Biggio for first-year players and maybe Jack Morris among players who have been on the ballot for a long time. There is something to getting 3,000 hits in their MLB career and Biggio deserves his day and a spot in the Hall of Fame when the results are announced this week.
