MLB Rumors: San Francisco Giants No Longer Interested in Brian Wilson?

A couple of years ago, Brian Wilson was considered one of the best closers in baseball as he played a key role in helping the San Francisco Giants win the World Series back in 2010. Unfortunately, Wilson was forced to miss the entire 2012 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and to make things even worse–it looks like he may be looking for a new home in 2013 as well.

One of the top MLB rumors this week involves Wilson and how unlikely it is he’ll be back in San Francisco for the 2013 season. Considering the seriousness of the injury, there’s a good chance Wilson still won’t be back to full strength once the regular season gets underway in a few months–which would be a risky move for any team showing interest.

As dominant as Wilson was a couple of years ago, keep in mind San Francisco managed to win the World Series this year without him in the lineup–which means there’s no reason why they couldn’t do it again in 2013. If anything, it seems like keeping Wilson around would only make him a liability–so it’s no surprise to hear the Giants may be leaning towards parting ways with their former star.

Even if he doesn’t return to his old dominant level, there will most likely be at least one team willing to take a chance on Wilson–so there’s no reason for him to worry about finding a new home if these rumors do end up true and his time with the Giants really is over.
