MLB Rumors: Tampa Bay Rays Interested in Giancarlo Stanton?

(Steve Mitchell/USA Today Sports)

With the 2013 MLB season right around the corner, MLB rumors are beginning to heat up like crazy as teams are looking to make last-minute moves to make their teams contenders for the World Series. After falling just short of the playoffs last year, it appears the Tampa Bay Rays may have their eyes on one key player the Miami Marlins have hinted about trading over the next few months–Giancarlo Stanton.

The Marlins outfielder has seen his name thrown around trade talks over the last few weeks and it appears the team would be willing to make the deal happen if they received the right players in the package. Stanton is wrapping up his best season with the Marlins in 2012 and seems like the player that is only going to get better and better each year with more experience–which is why this would be a wise move for the Rays.

Last season, Stanton set career highs in batting average (.290) and home runs (37) to go along with 86 RBIs. Tampa Bay would be lucky as anything to land a player like Stanton considering they already have one of the most talented rosters in baseball and with the amount of competition in the AL East this season–they’re certainly going to need all of the help they can get in 2013.

If they can manage to put together the right deal in which the Marlins would be willing to send Stanton their way–this would be a no brainer for the Rays to consider bringing him on board.
