There have been plenty of MLB rumors swirling over the last couple of weeks as far as where Justin Upton of the Arizona Diamondbacks could end up for the 2013 season. One team expressing interest recently–the Atlanta Braves.
After reaching the playoffs last year, the Braves will certainly be one of the top contenders in the NL East once again during the 2013 season and an addition like Upton would be huge to help them overcome the Washington Nationals–who won their first division title in franchise history since their move from Montreal.
Upton is coming off a 2012 season with Arizona in which he batted .280 to go along with 17 home runs and 67 RBIs. There’s no question he would be a great addition for Atlanta, but the main question is whether or not the team would be able to land him before it’s too late.
Obviously, a player with the talent level of Upton is going to draw interest from numerous teams and there are plenty of other teams–like the Baltimore Orioles–that have been in talks with the Diamondbacks to try and acquire him as well. The 2013 season is right around the corner and considering these rumors involving Upton being traded go back to last year, shows it most likely will happen sooner rather than later.
The only question at this point–which team is going to give the Diamondbacks the best offer for them to finally go through with it?
