Mike Napoli Would Be Wise To Consider Retirement Soon
There was a very long wait after Mike Napoli had first agreed to sign with the Boston Red Sox. After a long series of tests, Napoli finally signed a one-year deal with Boston. It has been discovered that Napoli has the same hip issue that ended the career of Bo Jackson, and I think it would be wise for Napoli to consider doing that himself.
Napoli is going to take a pounding behind the plate and at first base for the Red Sox with a lot of jarring motion having with the hips. If Napoli is in pain now with it, how will he be when it gets even worse? The best thing for Napoli to do is see how this season goes and if he is having worse problems during next offseason, then it is time to hang it up. We all saw what happened with Jackson and the pain he went through late in his career. If Bo can’t do it, who can?
I hope that something can help Napoli because he is a great player who will help the Boston lineup out a ton in 2013. I just want Napoli to be healthy though to get through the whole season and that doesn’t seem likely at this moment in time. The Red Sox may come back to regret making this move if Napoli can’t get through the whole year, because there were other options out there. It will be up to Napoli though on how much pain he can tolerate on a daily basis.
