Milwaukee Brewers LF Ryan Braun Releases Statement Over PEDs
With the 2013 MLB season right around the corner, the last thing the Milwaukee Brewers need to deal with is see Ryan Braun get caught up in another PED scandal. Lucky for them–that’s exactly the case.
Braun’s name was listed on the Biogenesis clinic records–the same list that included Alex Rodriguez and Melky Cabrera. The Brewers outfielder seemed to get out of a jam last year when he was investigated for using PEDs, but it should be interesting to see what strings he can pull this time again–especially after the statement he released on Tuesday.
“During the course of preparing for my successful appeal last year, my attorneys, who were previously familiar with Tony Bosch, used him as a consultant. More specifically, he answered questions about T/E ratio and possibilities of tampering with samples.
“There was a dispute over compensation for Bosch’s work, which is why my lawyer and I are listed under ‘moneys owed’ and not on any other list.
“I have nothing to hide and have never had any other relationship with Bosch.
“I will fully cooperate with any inquiry into this matter.”
It’s no surprise to see Braun denying any connection to the PEDs once again, but it’s difficult to believe him considering the timing between the two investigations. Many people believe Braun got lucky the last time around with the investigation and it should be interesting to see how things turn out this time.
Either way–this is the last thing Milwaukee needs to be dealing with before the regular season kicks off.
