San Francisco Giants’ Ryan Vogelsong Is Now Focused On 2013
Baseball is finally here! I’m sure you’ve been waiting for this for some time now! As a San Francisco Giants fan; when do you think it’s time for players to stop thinking about being World Series Champions?
I was able to attend media day for the Giants, and starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong was able to shed some light on this topic. Vogelsong said there has to be a transition period for the players. He believes every ones time frame is different, but his focus will change once he arrives for Spring Training.
Giants pitchers and catchers report to camp today. Which means, yesterday was likely the last day that he reflected on what they accomplished in 2012, because today his focus will now be on the 2013 season.
Vogelsong is also in the final year of his two-year deal with the Giants. However, he does have a club option for $6.5 million in 2014. There’s also a $300K buyout if the Giants don’t feel they want to spend that kind of money on Vogelsong in 2014.
Vogelsong has been pitching great the last couple of years for the Giants. He has a 27-16 record in 2011 and 2012 combined for the Giants. He’s even been asked to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. I don’t see any signs of Vogelsong slowing down either. My prediction is he will put together another good season, and the Giants will vest his club option in 2014!
