As pitchers and catchers report to their respective spring training facilities this week, oddsmakers in Las Vegas are just as busy researching the latest MLB developments and betting trends for their World Series futures odds.

As of January 31st the updated odds have three teams earmarked as favorites to win the Fall Classic.

The Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers are all penciled in at 7/1 favorites to win the World Series.

The Montreal Expos successor, the Washington Nationals, are a close second at 8/1 odds.

The restocked Toronto Blue Jays are tops in the American League East at 10/1 odds, a far cry from the 100/1 odds they were before their off-season wheeling and dealing. The New York Yankees are nipping at the Blue Jays heels at 12/1 favorites even with a depleted roster.

Rounding out the AL East is the Tampa Bay Rays at 16/1, the Boston Red Sox at 30/1 and the upstart Baltimore Orioles rounding out the toughest division in baseball at 50/1 odds.

Surprisingly the defending champion San Francisco Giants are 14/1 favorites as odds makers believe there are 6 teams with a more realistic chance at capturing glory.

The odds maker have 6 teams positioned as the Hail Mary cellar dwellers at 100/1 odds. The depleted Miami Marlins, the Dickey-Less New York Mets, Houston Astros, Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins round out the insurmountable thanks for coming out category.

In the coming weeks leading up to opening day betting hopefuls will take their chance with lady luck hoping they have something to cheer about in October.
