Someone Tell Miguel Cabrera the Detroit Tigers Season Hasn’t Started
There might be trouble in Detroit Tigers Spring Training. After finishing his Most Valuable Player season a year ago, Miguel Cabrera apparently thinks that season is still going or that the next one has already started. While other players are working through kinks of the winter and getting their timing down, Cabrera seemingly walked into camp with his timing down and is crushing the ball all over again.
So, if someone could tell him that the season hasn’t quite started yet and that he can save some of those tape-measure home-runs for when the counted games start, that would be great. Seriously, you talk about mid-season form. This guy either practices his swing all of the time or he is just naturally that great. I suspect it’s a little bit of both with a lean towards he’s just that darn good.
He already has two homers and four runs batted in. When fellow younger teammates need advice, he is there. When there is a chuckle going around the dugout or the clubhouse, he is sure to be near. From all appearances, this man just loves playing baseball. How someone can be this good and also seem to never lose his boyish smile is beyond me, but baseball really needs more of him.
As the year progresses, I think the only person that might seriously challenge Cabrera for best hitter in the game is his teammate across the diamond, Prince Fielder. Cabrera really is just an amazing player to watch. I bet he repeats not only success of a year ago but even might get the triple-crown two years in a row. Let’s watch.
