The Philadelphia Phillies might have themselves a star in their left fielder Domonic Brown. Brown has yet to put up any significant numbers and basically there is little reason stat-wise to support this theory. Yet when I see him play and hear him speak about his approach this year, I get the feeling that he is on the verge of a breakout year.
He has shown in the past glimpses of more potent offensive ability. If everything comes together and he gets the playing time he could be a guy that puts up at least twenty homers. His average likely could hover around the .275 mark if not higher and he surely is capable of knocking in seventy to eighty runs.
All of that could depend on if he gets the playing time however and isn’t stuck in a platoon situation. That will come if he can be trusted to go out and play defense as well as he possibly can. True to his mature outlook this spring, he is working extremely hard to get better defensively. His progress shows in the results he is getting early on. His manager has taken notice and I believe if he earns the chance to do so, he could put up big numbers this year.
