A lot has been written already about the new look Atlanta Braves and their superstar outfield. As a lifelong fan I just cannot stop myself from raving about what I see in these three guys. B.J. Upton signing as a free agent was a big replacement for Michael Bourn and was to have a big impact. When Justin Upton appeared to be headed towards the Braves however, everything changed.
The Braves have usually been the team that would rather build from within and not pay the big contracts out. For some reason they were willing to try a little harder this off-season. Perhaps it was because of the departure of Chipper Jones. They knew they would need something not only to draw fans attention but also to keep the team competitive. When Justin Upton came in, it was a shockingly refreshing for this franchise.
So far in Spring Training B.J. Upton is hitting for a .368 clip with 1 homer and 5 runs batted in while his brother Justin has a .316 average with 1 homer and four RBI. Jason Heyward isn’t slacking off either with an average of .294 with three homers and three runs batted in. Whether in batting practice or during the clutch moments, these guys are going to be a lot of fun to watch in that outfield in Atlanta.
