The Chicago White Sox, along with the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks, have announced details for their third annual Home Team Charity Run.

The White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks participate in the run for charity that includes a 5k and 10k race that takes place at the U.S. Cellular Field on July 14, 2013. The 10k race will start at 8:00 a.m. while the participants in the 5k race will follow at 8:15 a.m. Each registration fee for the 5k ($45) and 10k ($60) will have 25 percent of the cost deducted which will then be split three ways and donated to each Chicago team’s various charities.

Both races will conclude on the warning track near home plate inside U.S. Cellular Field. From there, participants and their guests will get to enjoy the festival inside the ballpark, which will begin at 8:30 am and end at 11:30 pm. There will be food, drinks and live music provided for anyone interested.

The male and female winner of the 5k will receive a first place trophy, while the 10k winners will each receive four tickets to a White Sox game along with free parking and VIP treatment. The top three male and female finishes in each of the 15 age brackets will get two tickets to their choice of a White Sox, Bulls or Blackhawks game this season.

This is obviously a terrific charity event that allows three of the four major professional sports in one of the biggest cities in the United States to give back to their community and help those in need. Chicago is a wonderful city filled with inspiring and creative people. The fact that it is the people of Chicago who are the ones providing the donations in a big way is what makes the event even more special.

Registration has officially begun and anyone that registers before April 1 will get $10 off ticket purchases for the May 21 White Sox game against the Boston Red Sox.
